'Drishyam 3' advance box office collection: The Ajay Devgn, Tabu film collects Rs 38 crore for the extended opening weekend through advance ticket sales

‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ is set to arrive in theatres tomorrow, October 2, with the Ajay Devgn-led franchise returning for its third and final chapter. The suspense thriller is releasing as a solo theatrical release on Gandhi Jayanti, giving it the advantage of a national holiday and limited competition at the box office. The film has already generated strong numbers through advance bookings. It has collected nearly Rs 38 crore for the extended opening weekend, including blocked seats, while the figure stands at Rs 28.49 crore when those seats are excluded. For Day 1 alone, ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ has recorded advance bookings worth Rs 19.71 crore. The National Capital Region (NCR) is currently leading the way with Rs 7.76 crore in ticket sales.BookMyShow data indicates that the film is witnessing particularly strong demand in Delhi-NCR, where several shows for the release day are already filling fast. Bengaluru is also showing a similar trend, with multiple shows marked as fast filling. The response in Mumbai and Kolkata appears comparatively slower, while Chennai has shown some encouraging signs. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has sold more than 11 lakh tickets across approximately 36,000 shows, recording an occupancy of 13%. Around 85 shows are already completely sold out. Bollywood Hungama, meanwhile, reported that more than 1 lakh tickets had been sold across PVR INOX and Cinepolis by Tuesday afternoon. The advance booking numbers have already put the third instalment ahead of the opening weekend performance of the first film. ‘Drishyam’ opened at Rs 5.85 crore on its release day in 2015 and earned Rs 37.95 crore during its first weekend.‘Drishyam 2’, released in 2022, witnessed a considerably bigger start, opening at Rs 15.38 crore and collecting Rs 104.66 crore in its first week. The first two films in the franchise have collectively grossed Rs 453 crore worldwide. The third instalment will now attempt to push the franchise’s overall global earnings further. With the Gandhi Jayanti holiday providing a boost, trade experts are expecting ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ to register a sizeable opening. Some estimates suggest that the film could even cross the Rs 50 crore mark on its first day.Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel expects the film to open in the Rs 45-55 crore range. “On Day 1, the film might earn between Rs 45 crore to Rs 55 crore. It will mostly depend on how it performs in East India, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, as well as in single-screen theatres. The first weekend might easily cross Rs 150 crore,” he said.A strong opening could also see the film challenge Ajay Devgn‘s existing record for his biggest opener. That record currently belongs to ‘Singham Again’, which opened at Rs 52.20 crore gross, while its net collection on Day 1 stood at Rs 43.50 crore.Film trade analyst Girish Johar, meanwhile, has projected an opening of Rs 35-40 crore, while also highlighting the film’s international reach.“The buzz overseas has been great too. In fact, extraordinary,” Johar said, adding, “It is one of the widest overseas releases, with more than 1,300 screens across 60 countries. It is the biggest one for Ajay Devgn.”Ajay Devgn’s current highest-grossing film is Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ (2024), which earned Rs 372.41 crore against a reported budget of Rs 325 crore. The film finished only marginally above its reported breakeven point. The anticipation around ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ also comes at a time when several films have been contributing to an active theatrical market. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently reacted to the theatrical performances of films including ‘Hanuman Ansh’, ‘Awarapan 2’, ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Vvaan’ and the upcoming ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’. Sharing his excitement on X, he wrote, “Much needed happy days at the box office.”With the franchise concluding its story and the benefit of a national holiday, all eyes are now on how ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’ translates its impressive advance booking numbers into its actual opening-day collection.
