Marking the fourth revamp of the story, the upcoming miniseries attempts to reimagine the supernatural thriller in a modern-day, relevant culture after being originally written nearly 50 years ago. ‘Carrie’: Plot and reimagination
According to the official logline, the series is a “bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother,” per Variety. The statement continued, “After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public high school, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.” Mike Flanagan views the upcoming series as the modern-day interpretation of the iconic story. With an aim of an ‘honest ‘ and ‘heartening’ display, the series puts forth the objective of how the mental health of young children is affected and how simple mistakes live on social media forever. “There is no reason whatsoever to try to follow in those footsteps and to try to walk on that path. However, the world has changed quite a lot,” he said at the Saturday, July 25, 2026, panel, per Deadline.
