This 18th-century fort overlooking Jaipur has legends, palaces and unmatched sunset views; no it’s not Amer

For those who know Jaipur, they are well-versed with the historic Amer Fort that defines the Pink City. But not many know of the secrets and beauty the old city hides in its heart. There’s one fort in Jaipur which is mostly overlooked but deserves all the attention. It is a fort that offers an insight into the city’s royal heritage and past. For those who head to Amer and ignore other heritage sites, they don’t have any idea what they are missing.

We are talking about the stunning Nahargarh Fort which is among Jaipur’s most scenic heritage landmarks. The place is a perfect mix of history, architecture and unforgettable city and sunset views. Set atop the Aravalli, the fort stands above the Pink City like a silent guardian. It was originally constructed in 1734 during the reign of Sawai Jai Singh II and later expanded in 1868. While it was intended as a defensive fortification, today is all about sunsets, views and a taste of royal Rajasthan.
