Indian Railways has reduced the booking window from 120 days to 60 days (excluding the date of journey).This means passengers can reserve seats 60 days before the scheduled departure of the train from its originating station. Since the journey date is excluded from the calculation, booking effectively opens 61 days before departure at the originating station. The railways have reduced the existing time limit for advance reservations in trains from 120 days to 60 days. To make sure only genuine passengers receive better access to tickets, Aadhaar verification has become mandatory.Aadhaar-authenticated IRCTC users get priority access for booking General Reserved tickets on the opening day of Advance Reservation Period bookings.
