Malayalam actor Asif Ali has congratulated veteran superstar Mammootty after he won the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his performance in ‘Bramayugam’. The actor described the honour as a proud moment for Malayalam cinema and said he was delighted to see Mammootty receive the prestigious recognition.Mammootty shared the Best Actor award with Kartik Aaryan, who was honoured for his performance in ‘Chandu Champion’.According to ANI, Asif Ali reacted to the announcement by expressing both pride and happiness over the result.

Speaking about the National Awards, Asif Ali revealed that he had also been in contention during the selection process. He admitted that learning his name had been shortlisted made him anxious. However, he said he was genuinely happy when Mammootty was announced as one of the winners.He said, “I feel proud and happy that I was considered for the award alongside Mammootty. When I came to know that my name was also on the shortlist, I was extremely tense. I am delighted that Malayalam cinema has once again received recognition from the National Film Awards. I am even happier that the award went to Mammootty.”
