BTS may have kept their distance from the spotlight for the past couple of years, but with their comeback just around the corner, the K-Pop supergroup is going all out to make sure it is one of the biggest events of the year.

BTS announce ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL‘

After announcing plans for their album launch, world tour, live streamed show and documentary, BTS has now announced a large-scale urban project titled ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL’. The band’s agency Big Hit Music confirmed on February 6, their ambitious city-wide initiative, set to take over Seoul from March 20 to April 12.As per reports, this will turn the South Korean capital into a sprawling, immersive experience featuring music, light and media across all iconic landmarks in Seoul, such as Sungnyemun Gate and Seoul Tower (formerly Namsan Tower), will be transformed into media facades. The project will coincide with the release of BTS’s new album on March 20.About ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL’By incorporating modern digital tech at historic sites the project will help spotlight Korea’s cultural heritage on a global stage. As part of the rollout, a lounge-style program featuring BTS’s music will be held at Yeouido Hangang Park until the 22nd of the same month. In April, stone walls, stairs, and street trees in downtown Seoul will be decorated like exhibition spaces. BTS’s song lyrics will be interpreted through media productions using light and video.

Big Hit releases statement

Big Hit Music said “During ‘The City Seoul,’ we have collaborated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to create a program so that both tourists and citizens visiting Seoul can experience culture and art in a new way and enjoy BTS’s comeback in a three-dimensional way. We also have partnership events linked to various fields such as F&B and mobility, so please look forward to it.” Besides rolling out the ambitious project in Seoul, BTS will then host similar pop-ups in other major cities around the world.BTS’ previous city projectsBTS previously dew massive global attention with similar initiatives, including ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE THE CITY – LAS VEGAS’ in April 2022 and ‘BTS ‘Yet To Come’ THE CITY in BUSAN’ later that year. Branded as an “urban play park,” transforming entire cities into interactive celebrations of the band’s music.
